Introduction to Wild Swimming

Have you been wanting to have a go at wild swimming but don't know how to get started safely?
Are you keen to give it a go but are feeling a bit nervous?
Would you like to join the wild swim community but don't have any pals to dip with?

Getting into cold water for the first time can feel very daunting so having a specially tailored session introductory session to help support you get into the water safely js a great way to start.

Our bodies are more resilient than we think and with the right technique, clarity of choice and good support getting into cold water can be a wonderful empowering experience.

We will cover:

  • What is happening to our bodies when we get into cold water, why that creates some risk and what the benefits of cold water immersion are.

  • How to enter the water safely and why it is so important

  • How long to stay in for and how to know when to get out

  • Good preparation for getting out and getting warmed up

  • General kit

  • Where to go

  • Think about next steps

These sessions are designed to give you the right information and experience to start you off safely on your wild swimming journey and are a great stepping stone to joining other Tweed Valley Wilding swim adventures.

These sessions are very much about how to get into the water safely and how to warm up again, not about swimming any distance.
