Peebles - wild right next to town
Come and immerse yourself in the wild right next to Peebles town. Join me for a half day wander, foraging for our post swim wild tea ingredients on our way to a guided wild swim in the beautiful River Tweed.
Within a few minutes walk of Peebles town centre you feel like you are in a different land, a place where you can slow down in nature, walk under a Borders Castle, watch the local inhabitants of the River Tweed and swim in clean waters.
Starting right in the heart of Peebles town we head through woodland along the River Tweed where there is an option of walking through a disused Victorian railway tunnel (torches are provided) to a spectacular viaduct. Crossing the river on this bridge we’ll wander through the river meadows and begin to identify and forage ingredients for our wild tea.
Here we will stop for a wild swim, where you will be guided safely into the water. We will swim together, playing with the flow and magic of the place.
We will warm up with our wild foraged tea made with a kelly kettle on the bank of the river returning under the impressive Neidpath Castle, a Borders towerhouse, and back towards the town.
This route has steps, uneven ground and short steep rocky and sometimes muddy sections. Walking distance approx. 4 miles/6.5 km.
